Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of Canada Day
OTTAWA - Today we mark Canada Day: a celebration that belongs to us all and a party to which every Canadian across the country is invited.

This year, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen to come to Canada on their first official tour as newlyweds. We are honoured to welcome them and celebrate Canada's 144th birthday with them.

Canada Day is a time for all Canadians to take pride in our traditions, our history, and our institutions. It is a time to honour those who helped build our great country, and a time where we can also look ahead to our bright future.

Canada Day belongs to all Canadians. This is your celebration!

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I invite all Canadians to join in the celebrations and take part in the many local events that have been organized across our great country. I wish everyone a wonderful Canada Day!
